Abstract
Cystadenocarcinoma of the pancreas is rare. Malignant changes in pancreatic cyst are also infrequent. We experienced recently a case of cystadenocarcinoma of the pancreas in a 62 year-old woman.
Grossly, submitted specimens consist; of a segmental resected large intestine and a complete spleen, and a small portion of pancreatic tissue, with forming a dense firm adhered_ mass.
The mass measures 3.5 x 3.0 x 3.0 cm in dimension, On cut section of the mass, there is a few cystic lesions, the largest of which measured 2.0 cm in diameter and colored whitish.
Microscopically, Section taken from the aehered mass reveal numerous large cystic and glandular structures lined by tall columnar epithelium showing anaplastic changes. In: occasional area, there are some atrophic acini in dense fibrous stroma.
In a section, there is a anaplastic proliferation of tumor cells disposed in squamoid pattern.
In occasional area, the glandular structures are distended by mucus material.
